"Las mil grullas de origami"

For four months I was working in the stages of pre-production and production of a short film called "Gero y sus mil grullas de origami". I was in charge of the Art Direction. In the script was told a story of a child who wanted his mother to be happy, this child finds a book with a magic story about building a thousand cranes to fulfill a desire; book which I was in charge of its design and its subsequent realization.

Taking into account the color palette proposed in the production design and artistic reference based on the paintings of Norman Rockwell, North American artist of the 20th century, I wanted to pay homage to the illustrations included in the book, those works where he portrayed the popular culture in the daily life of children.

Different materials were used for the realization of the illustrations: watercolor polychrome Faber Castell, black and white oil painting, graphite, on white fine cardboard.

The paintings treated in the book are: Four Sporting Boys: Basketball (1951), Checkup (1957), Retribution (1920), Marbles Champion (1939), Boy and girl gazing at the moon (1926).

Durante cuatro meses estuve trabajando en las etapas de preproducción y producción de un cortometraje llamado "Gero y sus mil grullas de origami". Yo estaba a cargo de la Dirección de Arte. En el guión se contó la historia de un niño que quería que su madre fuera feliz. Este niño encuentra un libro con una historia mágica sobre la construcción de mil grullas para cumplir un deseo. Del libro que me encargué de su diseño y su posterior realización.

Teniendo en cuenta la paleta de colores propuesta en el diseño de producción y la referencia artística basada en las pinturas de Norman Rockwell, artista norteamericano del siglo XX, quise rendir homenaje en las ilustraciones incluidas para el libro, aquellas obras en las que retrató la vida popular americana. La cultura en la vida cotidiana de los niños.

Se utilizaron diferentes materiales para la realización de las ilustraciones: acuarela policromada Faber Castell, pintura al óleo en blanco y negro, grafito sobre cartón fino blanco.
